Something to Think About…

Here’s something to think about during finals week.

How much do you value prayer?

Abraham Piper’s 22 Words Blog poses the question in a way that’s piercing to the heart:

Subject: Testing our perspective on prayer: How does it compare to other gifts we give people?

If a tragedy left you utterly destitute, would you rather a friend pray for you or give you $200 and a job?

  1. And from another angle, how much labour would you be willing to put into praying more effectively versus making $5000 more per year?

  3. But then, who’s to say that your friend giving you $200 and a job was not from God?

  4. Ah, you needn’t have framed the last one as a question. Of course it’s from God. That’s not the issue, though: it’s how much we value each action in relation to the doer, whether it’s a financial gift or a prayer.

And by the way, aren’t you able to edit your own comments rather than adding another comment a minute later?
