Seize the Word

…for the Word became flesh.

Flashback to Philippians

with one comment

For some reason, I’ve been having a pretty intense case of “butterflies in the stomach” for a good portion of today, to the point where I can’t concentrate. I can’t pinpoint the cause, but I’m guessing it has to do with a whole lot of reasons:

  • Finals: I have two more to go: one on Monday morning, and another (my hardest one) on Wednesday morning. Despite having started studying early for Physio, I’m already beginning to feel the time crunch.
  • Finances: Always a sticky situation. I think I was able to save a larger portion of my paycheck last month, but knowing that I always spend more at the end of a semester makes me uneasy.
  • Relationships: Rationally, I know that any relationship takes time, but there are some right now that I wish would develop faster.
  • Hunger: I might just be hungry…
  • Summer: I’ve finally settled what I’ll be doing for the second half of summer, but ironically, have not solidified my plans for the first half. And summer is quickly approaching!

I know I always ramble on about seemingly trivial things in my personal life, but I do have a point this time. After summing up all the things that have been making me antsy the last couple of days, I am reminded of one of our ABC’s from earlier this semester. Philippians 4:6 says,

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

What that means to me: Stephanie Chen, relax. Be anxious for nothing. What else can I say? Despite all the things we desire, all the things we want to accomplish, and all the things we think are good for us, only God knows what really is best for us. At a time when it’s easy to get worked up and restless, it is necessary to stop for a moment and breathe. By prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. We do what we can by our own efforts, but ultimately, he is in control.

  1. It’s great that you’re reminded of bible study, and applying it. =) Thanks for sharing…
